Townsen Memorial Hospital is hiring a full-time Operating Room Manager.
The Operating Room Manager is responsible for all department functions and staff including surgery, anesthesia, and sterile processing.
This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, and vendors.
The Manager works with senior leadership in meeting facility goals.
Assists as RN Circulator and Scrub Tech as necessary.
Essential Functions:
Serves as a high visibility leader, role model and professional mentor and resource; represents a positive image of the unit/practice area to the organization.
Ensures patient care delivery is safe, of high quality and is cost effective.
Ensures excellence in quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership team, and other team members to identify innovative ideas that will impact on growth, quality and/or efficiency of the facility.
Monitors and ensures excellent clinical practice of nursing, and the delivery of patient care in the operating room, including the surgical scheduling, equipment requests, and staffing align for optimal patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Participates in performance improvement, risk management, safety, infection control programs, and accreditation.
Also ensuring staff orientation, training, and documentation in these programs.
Ensures that policies, procedures, and standards of care are applied and maintained.
Manages systems to accomplish patient, unit, departmental and institutional goals in line with the facility growth.
Effectively defines and communicates a vision of excellence for the unit/practice area.
Responds to emergency situations with competence and composure.
Establishes and maintains relationships and open communication with departments which provide support services to the clinical area to always insure the appropriate level of service.
Follow issues through until resolution occurs.
Assures standards of care are consistently achieved in the unit/practice area.
Consults with patients and families in response to staff nurse requests, direct family requests and/or direct assessment of patient/family responses to the patients stay.
Interacts with staff nurses for the purpose of assessing the care provided and the nurses' capabilities to provide care in changing circumstances.
Interprets and educates all clinical staff to the approved clinical policies and procedures.
Implements, monitors, and enforces adherence to clinical policies and procedures.
Adheres to all facility and administrative policies and procedures.
Participate in professional training seminars when appropriate for job development and share information with other managers and staff members supervised.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong nursing knowledge and skills in clinical area(s) of responsibility Exercises good judgment, demonstrates effective critical thinking skills Flexible, able to prioritize and address multiple responsibilities concurrently Works effectively under stress and frequently changing job requirements/situations Strong organization and communication skills Strong attention to detail and thorough in completing assigned tasks Ability to adequately diagnose, plan and implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient condition Compliance with facility policies and procedures Compliance with continuing and mandatory education programs EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Registered Nurse in the State of Texas; License must remain active and unencumbered while employed.
Five (5) years clinical experience in the operating room One (1) year in a leadership role Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
